Resident Evil Requiemwas officially announced onFebruary 27, with itsfirst trailer debuting in Juneduring the Summer Game Fest. Now, fans can mark their calendars for the next big showcase atGamescom Opening Night Live on August 19 at 8:00 PM CEST.

Geoff Keighley, host of Opening Night Live, confirmed that the next Resident Evil will havean exclusive new look next weekduring the opening ceremony of the German gaming event.

According to well-known Capcom insiderDusk Golem, the press embargo will lift the next day, bringing fresh previews and details about the new footage. The game will also have a strong presence atTokyo Game Show in late September.

Dusk Golem also shared new details aboutthe monsterseen in the first trailer, information that will likely be revealed officially duringGamescom.

He reiterated something he had hinted at before:Resident Evil Requiem will wrap up many of the ongoing storylinestied to iconic characters, Umbrella Corporation, and the legacy ofRaccoon City. It will also bethe last numbered title in the series.

While recent entries already downplayed the numbering, Capcom intends to move away from it entirely in future installments. The insider also mentioned agameplay section for Leon(still unconfirmed officially) inspired byThe Last of Us Part II, newdynamic AI systems, and semi-open areas in Raccoon City featuringvehicles for exploration.

Capcom’s New Vision for the Franchise

Capcom aims to createmore standalone Resident Evil games, introducingnew charactersand experimenting withdifferent horror styles,including more fantasy elements, without always linking back to viruses or Umbrella incidents.

The goal is to break free from constraints that have limited narrative and gameplay risks in the past.

Fans are also hoping for aplayable demo, a tradition in the series’ recent history.

Dusk Golem believes a demo is likely, butnot during Gamescom. Capcom has released one or two demos for almost every mainline Resident Evil, so it should arrive eventually.

Resident Evil Requiem will take playersback to the origin of it all,apost-apocalyptic Raccoon Cityafter the events of Resident Evil 2 and 3.

Grace Ashcroftis the only confirmed playable protagonist so far, but rumors suggestLeonwill also explore the city in amore action-focused campaign.

The game will launch onPlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, promisinga return to pure horror
