In this latest sneak peek, he had this to say about bringing the iconic literary figure back to life for a new generation.
“I play Igor Strausman. Victor sees me in the circus. This is where he finds me. He spots my talents, and lifts me out of this god awful existence that I have been living for my entire life.”

Victor Frankenstein is directed byPaul McGuigan, known best for his work on the hit PBS and BBC seriesSherlock, and it is written by the often outspokenMax Landis, who has become more known as a celebrity than a screenwriter after making waves with the superhero movieChronicle. With both of these unique artists collaborating on this new horror tale, it’s sure to be something very different and quite special in the genre.
Victor Frankenstein isn’t the only new take onMary Shelley’s classic novel coming to theaters this year. 2015’sFrankensteinwill be amodern updateon the story, withCarrie-Anne Mossand Danny Huston playing a married couple of scientists who create a modern day monster inXavier Samuel. With Victor Frankenstein,Paul McGuiganis focusing more on the relationship between Dr. Frankenstein and Igor, with the assistant getting more of a spotlight than he ever has before.
Victor Frankenstein hits theaters in time for Thanksgiving this year, arriving on July 16, 2025. It also features a strong ensemble withJessica Brown Findlay, Andrew Scott and Freddie Fox joining in on the fun. Will it be serious enough to garner any awards attention?
