Do Battle with Cards

The Forsaken Maiden

The Forsaken Maiden takes place on a series of islands that have long been under the protection of various maidens. Until recently, the populace has lived in peace. Now, the isles lie at the precipice of total annihilation. Players take up the mantle of an unknown hero, young and eager to save the world. He is joined by Laty, a girl who failed to become a maiden herself.

It is then the pair’s quest to set sails and journey throughout the islands. They will attempt to beat the incoming devastation by allying themselves with the maidens. We are also introduced to three maidens. We have Phila, the kind, Lanca, the virtuous, and Queni, the unlucky. Hopefully, we get moredetailed character introductionsas the release date looms ever closer.

The Story as Told by Cards

How the heroes, the maidens, and their attendants will change the world will be up to you.

Voice of Cards

Players of the previous game, The Isle Dragon Roars, should feel right at home. The trailer shows us all the classic elements of the previous game. We have cards representing literally everything about the game - from characters to weapons, to dialogue, to items and foes. Everything is a card in this game. Even the world is presented as a set of face-down cards that beg to be turned up and explored.

Hopefully, we also get thehigh-speed optionthat was added into The Isle Dragon Roars, so players can decide their own pace of play.

The Forsaken Maiden Features Sailing

Pre-Purchase Bonuses

Players who prepurchase the game before March 8th will receive some little bonuses. First off they get the “Whale of Fortune Pattern” which will change the card back designs to the legendary whale that is said to bring good luck to those lucky enough to look upon it. They will also get the “Ocean Tile Table” which is an ocean-themed game board. Both of these are cosmetic and shouldn’t affect the difficulty of the game in any way.

DLC Crossovers

Fans may also purchase the DLC set bundle for a bit more extra. With this, they get various crossover items with Nier: Automata, much like the previous Voice of Cards game. Among other things, players will get player avatars and card backs based on 2B and the YoRHa group. They will also get the Puppets’ costumes that will affect Laty, Lac and Barren and make them look like androids from the Automata game.

While Yoko Taro fans might be disappointed thatwe may not be getting any more Nier games, Voice of Cards: The Dragon Roars was a pretty good game, according to Steam Reviews.Nier Replicant, the recent remaster, also got a very favourable reception.
