Packed with over-the-top fashion, unforgettable one-liners, and relationship twists that will make your jaw drop,Sex and the Cityhas remained a fan-favorite franchise since time immemorial. While not every addition to the franchise was appreciated by the critics, it goes without saying thatSex and the Cityis the true definition of a guilty pleasure.

In the second movie based on the OG television series, Sarrah Jessica Parker’s Carrie faces a tough time in her relationship with Mr. Big. Feeling neglected, she ends up getting a little too close to her former lover, Aidan. However, the actor believes that his character should have gotten something a bit more than just a kiss.
John Corbett Believes His Character Deserved Better
John Corbett’s Aidan andSarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie have a ton of history. Their relationship ended for the first time when Carrie got candid about her affair with Mr. Big (Chris Noth). Something similar happened inSex and the City 2,but this time, Carrie cheated on Big with Aidan. Well, that is if you consider kissing as cheating.
As Carrie and Big go through a rough patch in their marriage with the former feeling overlooked and underappreciated, she runs into Aidan in Abu Dhabi. Talk about timing, right? They catch up with a nice dinner and even though he reveals that he’s happily married, they end up kissing each other. Carrie then flees the scene in panic.

“I also understand how much frickin money it made”: Sarah Jessica Parker Was Aware of the Flaws in Her $290 Million Worth ‘Sex and the City’ Sequel
When it comes to this exact moment in the film, Corbett believes that Aidan and Carrie deserve more than just a high-school-like kiss. In his opinion, the former lovers should have gone all the way just to increase the stakes.
In an interview with theDaily News, years after the film’s release, Corbett stated,

I actually think they should’ve f*cked. I thought the kissing was a little high school, you know, for that audience. I think that she should’ve just done a full-on adulterous cheat.
Well, it would have been on-brand with the franchise, that’s for sure. Since a kiss caused so much drama between Carrie and Big, we wonder what would have happened between the married couple if she and Aidan hadn’t stopped after a kiss. Would she have been able to get Big back at the end of the film?

Fans had John Corbett’s Back
There are always characters who are supposed to show up for a few episodes and then take a step back, never to return. As it turns out, Corbett’s Aidan was one of them.
Originally, Corbett was supposed to be in the television series for a small and finite number of episodes but fans loved the furniture designer so much that they took it upon themselves to ensure that he stays.

“This is a horrible character”: ‘Sex and the City’ Character Meghan Thee Stallion Went From Hating to Absolutely Relating
During the interview, Corbett revealed that fans from all over mailed the show’s producers small, unfinished wooden chairs in an attempt to convince them. Why unfinished wooden chairs? Because Aidan was a furniture maker, the unfinished chairs symbolized the fans’ plea to the producers not to let the character go unfinished.
What happened was the fans kind of got together and bonded together over the internet. They mailed [the producers] these little, I guess little 6-inch kind of unfinished wooden chairs, and they said, ‘Don’t leave Aidan unfinished,’ right?’ … Because, you know, [he] was a furniture maker, and it’s an unfinished chair, ha ha. I thought it was kind of cute.
Very cute indeed. Luckily, it worked out in Corbett’s favor as he kept returning to the franchise even after the show ended. After his short stint inSex and the City 2,Aidan was once again seen inAnd Just Like That…where he and Carrie rekindled their romance only to go on a hiatus
Sex and the City 2is available to rent/buy on Prime Video.
