The final season ofThe Boysdoesn’t yet have a release date, but the cast and crew of the film have already been saying their goodbyes as production is soon coming to a close. Just a few weeks ago, showrunner Eric Kripke posted an emotional goodbyeto a set used for the show, and now one of the series' stars is saying their goodbye. This time, it’sKarl Urban, who took the time to write his own post saying goodbye to the series while also teasing the insanity that will beThe Boysseason 5.
Urban shared two heartfelt behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram, captioning it “fin” and taking a look back at all the time he had spent on the series. The actor reminisces in the post about the eight years, fives seasons, and 40 episodes that went into the production ofThe Boys, while calling his time on the series “an incredible, life-changing ride.” He ended the post by thanking all the fans for their support over the years, and also wrote about his excitement for the final season, calling it “FARKIN BIBLICAL!”

‘The Boys’ Star Teases Season 5 Filming with Teasing Look at His Returning Character
Karl Urban has followed up a recent ‘Mortal Kombat 2’ tease with a new update on Billy Butcher’s return in ‘The Boys’
The two photos shown in the post are touching as well, as they depict Urban andJack Quaidin costume as Butcher and Hughie, respectively, on location in Hawaii, where the two actors wrapped. Seeing them in character, facing away from the camera and looking at the sunset on the beach, feels incredibly poetic and a fitting way for Urban to say goodbye to the show on social media. As more of the production crew continue to share their heartfelt goodbyes, one can’t help but feel more excited for these final episodes.

‘The Boys’ Has Been a Long, Creative Journey for Karl Urban
Karl Urban has been a part of the production ofThe Boyssince the beginning, with the actor becoming synonymous with the unorthodox superhero series. His commitment to seeing the story through to the end is something to be admired, especially since committing yourself creatively to the same character for such a long period of time is undoubtedly challenging.Billy Butcher has always been an integral charactertoThe Boys, and Urban’s performance each season has brought a surprisingly new amount of nuance with each season.
The ending of Season 4 ofThe Boyssaw Butcher at his lowest point yet, fully embracing the consequences of his use of Temp V, becoming a monster in his own right on his mission to get rid of all supes. Much of the discourse surrounding the character has been about how he is now more closely resembling his comic counterpart than ever before, going down a more murderous path than what has been seen in past seasons of the show. The season 4 finale saw Butcher go off on his own, and we can only assume that he will continue to follow his darker impulses in the final season.

Filled with overt political commentary, gory action, and an unconventional take on superheroes,The Boyshas been one of Prime Video’s most successful series. It will be interesting to see how the spin-off seriesGen Vseason 2plays into this last season ofThe Boys, and if the characters from that show will have a significant impact on the final episodes of the main series. Whatever the case,Karl Urban has provided an impressive lead performanceas Billy Butcher, whose tragic arc is sure to have an interesting conclusion.
