Late into Act Three ofBaldur’s Gate 3, you’ll meet a familiar character from theBaldur’s Gatefranchise. A doppelganger of Jaheira is fooling Minsc, since they’re old friends. This human Ranger is quite the powerhouse, but despite him acting aggressive towards you, Jaheira asks that you keep him alive. Even after the fight, if you decide to let him live, the Emperor doesn’t want to extend their protection from the Absolute because of Minsc’s recklessness. We’ll answer whether you should save Minsc and defy the Emperor inBaldur’s Gate 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3: Should you save and recruit Minsc?
Although Minsc is hard to keep control of, perhaps once he’s free from the Absolute’s control he’ll go back to normal. Jaheira begs your character to save him and defy the Emperor’s orders. The answer toif you should save Minsc inBaldur’s Gate 3is a definite yes. Oh, and you’ll in turn save his miniature giant space hamster Boo.
By this point you’ve probably agreed to work with the Emperor and are fine with most of their decisions. But in this moment, they’re insistent that Minsc is a liability. Despite this, if you’re firm on saving Minsc, the Emperor will listen, and lend their protection. You’ve now recruited Minsc, who you may know from the previousBaldur’s Gategame.

If you’re worried that Minsc will be a problem, don’t be. you may now bring him along in your party, andhe can fight alongside you as a Ranger. Jaheira in camp will argue with Minsc and make him swear that he’ll behave, and he seems to have no problems about this deal. I never encountered anything bad happening with Minsc after recruiting him, so you may as well make Jaheira happy.
But whatif you didn’t recruit Jaheira in Act Two? You won’t get the opportunity to get Minsc on your side if this happens. Otherwise, if you end up in combat against Minsc and are trying to save him instead of kill him, I have one important tip. verify you have ‘Toggle Non-Lethal Attacks‘ on so you canknock outMinsc instead of kill him. Once combat is over, Minsc will wake up, and you may decide whether or not you want to save him from the Absolute.
