Clair Obscur: Expedition 33is home to many large Axon and one of these that you can find roaming around the overworld is the Serpenphare. An Axon growing plants out of its body, sporting a pink tail and a building for a head.
This is one of the trickier Axon roaming around the Continent, but once you discover its trick, it actually becomes quite easy.
Where Is The Serpenphare?
The Serpenphare can be found floating in the sky, south-east of the Boat Graveyard and above the White Sands. Starting in Act III, once you gain the ability to fly with Esquie, you’re able to fly directly up to it and fight the Serpenphare.

Serpenphare Moveset
Double Tail Swipe
A normal two-part attack. Parry the first hit and jump counterattack the second. The attack pattern isSlow > Jump.
Triple Tail Swipe
A normal three-part attack. Parry the first hit, jump counterattack the second and parry the third hit. The attack pattern isSlow > Jump > Slow.
AP Explosion
Once Serpenphare absorbs too much of the party, it will explode. There will be ten mini explosions. On the tenth beat you dodge/parry.
Head Smash
An attack in which the Sepenphare smashes its head against the party twice. The attack pattern is Fast > Fast.
There is also a 4-hit variant as well as a 6-hit variant. The attack pattern for the four hit is Fast > Fast > slight pause > Fast > Fast. While the attack pattern for the six hit isFast > Fast > slight pause > Fast > Fast > slight pause > Fast > Fast.
Serpenphare attacks four times
A laser attack that ends in a Gradient counter. The attack pattern isSlow > Slow > Slow > Gradient Counter.
Silencing Attack
Serpenphare will fly around the arena and launch three projectiles. Wait for the camera to come back into focus on the party and parry all three hits. The attack pattern is Slow > Slow > Slow.
Freezing Beam
A three-part projectile attack. Wait for the sound cue and parry the attack on each party member. The attack pattern isNormal > Normal > Normal.

Some of Maelle’s best weapons are built around stances, others feed into her Break potential and a few just give her the breathing room to act freely.
Equipping Lightning Element Weapons will be key to success at attempts at an early level. With Verso equip Contorso, with Lune equip Kralim and with Maelle equip Clierum. All of these being Lightning element weapons. Utilize Lune’s lightning abilities, such as Lightning Dance and Ascending Assault with Verso, as it copies your weapon’s elements. With Maelle, utilize Breaking Rules to remove all the shields the Sepenphare gains from its Gain Shields attack.
At the start of each of its turns, Serpenphare will either absorb your entire party’s AP or gain max shields and increase its speed. The trick with this, that will make this fight easier, is that when Serpenphare absorbs too much AP it will explode, causing self-inflicted damage. Take advantage of this by either parrying or, more reliably, dodging the explosion. Serpenphare will be stunned after this explosion.
As well as using these weapons and utilizing the skills listed above, using AP recovery Luminas as well as the Stun Boost Lumina to deal even more damage when Serpenphare breaks itself with the AP Explosion.
