Ninja Theory today revealed that their formerly Xbox-exclusive title, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, is coming to PS5 consoles this summer.

A year after Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II launched on Xbox Series X|S and PC, the developer has confirmed what many expected. The game is indeed coming to PlayStation 5, and players won’t have to wait that much longer to play the critically-acclaimed title. Given Xbox’s change in strategy, it was always a matter of when the game would arrive on PS5 and PS5 Pro. Now, we have a vague idea, though an exact release date and pricing haven’t been revealed.

Review: Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2

Whether you’re a fan of the original Hellblade or a newcomer to the series, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 offers an engaging and unforgettable experience.

Optimized for PS5

According to Ninja Theory, the studio has spent the past few months optimizing Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II for PS5 and PS5 Pro. The game is being handed the ‘Enhanced’ moniker, though the studio hasn’t yet revealed what will be enhanced about the game. No details on resolution, framerate, or features were revealed, though we’d assume that the PS5 version would be on-par with the excellent Xbox Series X version. The PS5 Pro, however, might include some additional graphical features present on the PC version.

The studio also confirmed that the PS5 version will arrive with some new features, though, once again, the studio was vague about what those features are. Ninja Theory, however, did confirm that these features will arrive on Xbox Series X|S and PC day-and-date with the PS5 version as a free update.

An Xbox studio with a rich PlayStation history

Despite being an Xbox-owned studio since 2018, Ninja Theory has a rich history with the PlayStation brand. It was Heavenly Sword, an early-gen PS3 exclusive, that helped the studio garner fame and attention back in 2007, particularly for its presentation and use of motion capture. It also didn’t hurt that famed actor Andy Serkis lent his talents to the project. Though its next projects (Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and DmC: Devil May Cry) were multiplatform, the studio still maintained a strong audience on PlayStation. In fact, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, the prequel to Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, was originally released as a PS4 console exclusive. For many, especially knowing the history of the developer, it was a shock to many when Microsoft bought the studio all those years ago.

We have a vague idea, though an exact release date and pricing haven’t been revealed.
