Status effects are a staple of most survival games and Nightingale is no exception. There are no less than nine of them here, including generic ones like Hunger and Fatigue. But there are also a few that are a bit more unusual, such as Hail, Death Curse, and Drenched.
Drenched is a negative status effect that appears when players are directly exposed to rain for prolonged periods of time. Swimming in a lake or river for too long will also trigger the debuff. Keep reading to find out how to remove it and how to prevent it from affecting your character in the future.

How To Remove Drenched In Nightingale
First off, it’s worth going over what this debuff does to your character. As soon as you’re exposed to water, whether via swimming or rain, a debuff meter that shows you how wet you are will appear on your screen. Once the meter fills up, your character will be affected by the Drenched status effect and will have their Stamina Regeneration reduced to half. There are no other negative consequences, but Stamina Regeneration is very important, so you’ll want to get rid of the debuff as soon as possible.
Removing the Drenched status effect is very easy and happens automatically as soon as you spend some time on dry land and have a roof over your head. It takes a little while for the debuff to go away once you’ve met these conditions, but you can speed up the process by standing next to a fire.

How To Prevent Drenched From Triggering
The easiest way to prevent your character from becoming Drenched is to avoid water whenever possible. There’s not much you can do about it while you’re swimming, but you can prevent the rain from triggering it by quickly finding shelter as soon as it starts pouring. Alternatively, you can simply craft an umbrella and carry it with you at all times to protect you from the rain.
In order to craft an umbrella, you’ll first need to get your hands on the recipe. Go to the Abeyance Essence Trader and open up the Simple Items category. You can buy the recipe for the Simple Umbrella from there for 30 Essence Dust. Once you’ve unlocked the recipe, you craft an umbrella at a Simple Workbench using x1Wood Bundle, x1Stone Block, and x1Hide. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to use two-handed weapons while you have an umbrella equipped. If you need to go into combat, ensure to use a Hunting Knife or a Sickle instead.
