????WARNING: Spoilers ahead, Do not read on unless you have watched“Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings ”.????
With a blockbuster opening weekend,Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Ringshas become one of the top box office movie of the pandemic. It is the first movie that set in the present of the MCU. With a current IMDb rating of 8.0,Shang-Chi‘s already rated above most MCU projects. The film was stuffed with some really cool Easter eggs and hidden details that we bet you overlooked.
FandomWire has broken down all Easter eggs, references, and little things that you might have missed in Shang-Chi. Sit back and get ready for surprises!

1.To brief you a little about the association of Ten Rings in the MCU, they were first mentioned to us way back inIron Manwhen Tony Stark was captured.
2.They were even mentioned inIron Man 3when Trevor, who is now a fan-favorite character in the MCU, impersonated Wenwu. Trevor even talked about this role of his inIron Man 3when he first meets Shang-Chi, Katy, and Xialing.
3.In Marvel’s short film titledOne-Shot:All Hail the King, Trevor was broken out of jail by Wenwu and one of his men who had the Ten Rings tattooed on his arm.
4EveninAnt-Man, an agent who has the Ten Rings tattoo meets Darren Cross when he was showing his work with Pym Particles and the Yellowjacket suit.
5.The Ten Rings logo that we saw in the film sees a slight graphic update and now includes the appropriate Chinese characters. The previous Ten Rings logo seen in theIron Manfilms was apparently “disrespectful to the Mongolian language”.
6Bill Pope who was the cinematographer forThe Matrixhas definitely added a little touch of the 1999 action film toShang-Chi’s cinematography.
7.Shaun/Shang-Chi who plays the protagonist of the film has some notable posters in his bedroom. He is a genuine movie buff who has posters ofKung-Fu Hustle,The Godfather, andThe Warriors.
8.Like Tony and Peter, Shag-Chi too seems to be a fan of everything pop. While at the karaoke, we see him and Katy singing along to the lyrics of “Magic Carpet Ride” by Steppenwolf, “A Whole New World” fromAladdin, and “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X.
9Very recently, a fan has proventhat Lil Nas X had to have survived the Blip because Shang-Chi and Katy sing “Old Town Road” at the karaoke which came out in 2019.

10. When Shang-Chi picks up Katy at her family’s apartment before they head to work, a poster can be spotted in the background that reads, “Post-Blip anxiety? You are not alone. National Blip Support Hotline.”
A few mentions of the post-blip stress were even made inThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
11. If you look closely, you can even spot a small poster that has“Blip Sync” written on it. According to the screenwriters ofShang-Chi,Blip Sync is a dating app for people who were Blipped.
12We come across a prominent comic book character called Razor Fist in the film who gets into combat with Shang-Chi on the bus. In the comics, Razor Fist has not only fought Shang-Chi, but also Deadpool and Wolverine. For his troubles, he has even been imprisoned on The Raft.
13. In mostof theShang-Chicomics, the plot deals with Shang-Chi’s father sending dangerous assassins to get him killed. The entire scene on the bus where Razor Fist and his minions fight Shang-Chi fits this trend.
14.In one of the scenes from the combat on the bus, you can see Shang-Chi using his jacket as a weapon. This move is a nod to Jackie Chan’s famous fight inRumble in the Bronxwhere he made similar use of his jacket.
15. The funny dude played by Zach Cherry who we see live streaming Shang-Chi’s fight on the bus was previously seen inSpider-Man: Homecomingas a street vendor.
16. The fight club in Macau that Xialing runs is named after the Golden Daggers from the comic books. In the comics, she has many different names and is the leader of the criminal organization that rivals her father’s.
17The fight club is full of characters that have associations with Marvel comics. For starters, you have a widowfighting what looks like one of Maya Hansen and Aldrich Killian’s Extremis soldiers fromIron Man 3.
18We meet Abominationat the Golden Daggers Club who takes on Wong in the ring. He’s a classic Hulk villain from the comic books, and he has been previously seen inThe Incredible Hulk.
19If you look carefully in the background, you can spotthe Madripoor flag painted on one of the walls behind Shang-Chi when he gets inside the fighting ring. Madripoor was a prominent location that was featured inThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
20.Marvel gives a callback toRush Hour 2when it shows Katy hanging off the side of a building and the pole begins to crack. Lee and Carter land themselves in a similar situation.
21. We come across Death Dealer who is another prominent villain from theShang-Chicomic book universe. In the comics, Death Dealer, aka Li Ching-Lin, worked with Shang-Chi’s father Wenwu and had previously worked for MI6 as an agent.
22Wenwu’s compound where Shang-Chi, Xialing, and Katy are taken is a reference to Shang-Chi’s father’s fortress from the Marvel comics. The compound is apparently located in the mountains of Hunan where Wenwu trained the Warriors of the Deadly Hand.
23Like Shag-Chi, his sister too seems to be a fan of pop culture. In Xialing’s bedroom, you can spot an AC/DC poster on the wall near her bed.
24. When talking about the aliases he’s been called by over the years, Wenwu quotes “Master Khan,” which is one of the names the Mandarin is known by in the comics.
25Li and Ying Nan’s home of Ta Lo has been taking directly from the comic books. The village was only mentioned inThorIssue #301 when Thor visited Ta Lo in order to seek help for reviving some fallen Asgardians.
26We get a glimpse at some incredible mystic beings that inhabit the village of Tao Lo whenShang-Chi, Xialing, Katy, Trevor, and Morris arrive there. All creatures shown were derived from Chinese Mythology.
27. While they drive through the village of Tao Lo, you can spot some fox-like creatures standing on rocks. These are based on Huli jing, aka nine-tailed foxes.
28. Several otherChinese mythology creaturesbased on Fenghuangappear afterward
29. When Shang-Chi, Xialing,Katy, and Trevor’s car suddenly crosses paths with a large creature that Trevor describes as a “weird horse,” it’s a Qilin, which inChinese mythology aremythical hooved chimerical creatures.
30. The lion-like creatures who help the locals of Ta Lo in fighting the Ten Rings mafia are likely a nod to the Guardian Lions, aka Shishi, that are often seen in Chinese architecture.
31Trevor’s furball like sidekick,Morris is based on the Chinese mythological creature Dijiang or Hundun
32. Ying Nan tells Shang-Chi, Katy, andXialingabout the history of Dweller-in-Darkness and how the village of Ta Lo has stopped it from being unleashed on the world. If you go by the comics, the Dweller has a history of creating fear in all mortals to gain power.
33. The Soul Eaters that we see coming out of the Dweller’s cave were a take on this phenomenon. They are in fact creatures from the Sixth Dimension who often clash with Doctor Strange.
34Shang-Chi’s Dragon Scale armor that his mother left behind forhim was a nod to his comic book outfit. His final look during his fight with the Dweller was very reminiscent of his comic book appearance.
35It’s still a little unclear why the Ten Rings change their colors when they’re wielded by Wenwu and Shang-Chi. However, a lot of theories suggest that the colors that the Ten Rings depict are suggestive of the wielder’s state of mind. Blue is associated with loyalty and sadness, while orange is associated with enthusiasm and warmth.
36The first post-credits scene features Carol Danvers and Bruce Banner talking to Wong, Shang-Chi, and Katy using the same hologram technology that they previously used inAvengers: Endgamewhen communicating with Natasha.
37When Wong investigates the Ten Rings, he mentions that they aresuper old and have been on the planet since forever. This seems promising of a proper backstory for the rings in future MCU movies.
38The biggest takeaway from the first post-credits scene is the fact that Bruce is no more the Professor Hulk that he was inAvenger: Endgame. His arm is however still hanging in a sling the way it did after he used the Infinity Stones.
