Major Dieselis a powered-upO.R.C. Stinkbugand one of the main bosses inGrounded 2near the end of the early access. After destroying the O.R.C. forces at the pines and lake locations, the stranger will challenge you to come and fight them at theCommand Center. While Major Diesel can be skipped, doing so will make your return trips dangerous, and defeating theStinkbugwill allow you a safer passage back and forth. This guide will provide a brief overview of how to defeat Major Diesel, which can be applied to other bugs of his typing in your gameplay.

Major Dieselcan be found in the north of the map in the tube just outside theCommand Center.You’ll see a purple glow before you encounter the Large Stink Bug. As soon as you pass by,Major Dieselwill let out a shriek and immediately attack you, your companions, and your ant mount. Some O.R.C. controlled larva may also attack, so lure them out first to avoid any extra chip damage during the fight.
Fighting Strategy
Similar to other Stinkbugs,Major Dieselhas a similar moveset and a larger health bar. However, the area you’ll be fighting him in will make his stink clouds unavoidable in the close quarters of the tunnel, and ranged attacks will be interrupted often. Equip your gas mask and prepare to fight. He will almost always open with his stink cloud, crouching low as he forms the attack. During this time, you can attack him as he won’t be able to move until the gas cloud is released.
Watch out for his jump, which has a chance to knock you off your mount or your feet. You’ll know it’s about to jump when it wiggles its rear and leaps, kite out of the radius to avoid taking damage. Your ant mount also has a chance to stunMajor Diesel, unleash your attacks at its legs and head whenever possible, and move away after it shakes off the stun. There is no grand cutscene after it dies. Once it goes down, harvest the parts that come off of it and move on to the next area and the next two optional bosses in the garden’s maze area.
