Season 3 ofInvinciblehasn’t even been released yet, but the show’s creator,Robert Kirkman, believes the popular animated series could run for a long time to come. Based on Kirkman’s graphic novel of the same name,Invinciblefollows Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun), the son of Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons), who, after discovering his own powers, sets out to become a superhero and save the world from a powerful threat.
However, there is one big problem: Omni-Man is the threat!Invinciblehas become one of the most popular superhero shows around, and fans are constantly demanding more seasons. Those fans are in luck as, alongside the greenlit third and fourth seasons, Kirkman expectsInvincibleto be on screens for many more years.

Invincible
Based on the comic book character by Robert Kirkman, Invincible follows Mark Grayson, a seventeen-year-old who leads a seemingly average life save for the fact that he lives behind the shadow of his superhero father, Omni-Man. Mark goes on to develop superhuman abilities, but he must also learn that his father’s legacy isn’t as glitzy and glamorous as he’s been led to believe.
Speaking at theVarietyStudio at San Diego Comic Con 2024, Kirkman revealed his confidence in the series having a long life on Prime Video, and Mark Grayson’s story is far from over. The creator also expressed his excitement about Season 4, which is currently in development. Although, he couldn’t give away any details. Kirkman said:

“I feel like we’re just getting started. I’m very hopeful that this show can be around for a while. With Season 4, we’re really hitting our stride. There’s really exciting stuff coming up in Season 4.”
While Robert Kirkman didn’t hint at how many seasons he’d want to complete his adaptation of the comic books, some clever fans have already worked out how long the show could run for. The first season ofInvincibleadapted the first 13 issues of the comics.Invincibleconsists of a whopping 144 comics. Therefore, providing Kirkman doesn’t cut any content, he would need around 22 seasons to completely adapt the graphic novels. Kirkman is known for working on long TV shows. His previous comic book adaptation,The Walking Dead, ran for 11 seasons, with several spin-offs still ongoing.

Robert Kirkman Says Invincible Is an ‘Escalating Show’
Season 1 pitted Mark, a.k.a. Invincible, against his father Omni-Man in the season’s final episode. Season 2 dramatically raised the stakes. After Omni-man fled Earth, the Viltrumite Empire (the race of powerful aliens Omni-Man belongs to) began planning their conquest/annihilation of the planet. Season 2 broadened the scope of the show, introducing new key charactersand fleshing out the world in which it takes place. Kirkman teased that Seasons 3 and 4 will continue that trend, and make the first two seasons look like a small family drama by comparison. Kirkman said:
“I think you can see that Season 2 is an advancement of a lot of things that were introduced in Season 1. The stakes were higher, things got a little crazier, and there were a lot of pieces moving that were hinting at a lot of bigger stories. Those bigger stories really start crashing down in Season 3. But Season 4 dwarfs Season 3 in a lot of really crazy ways. It’s an escalating show where each season is going to be bigger, crazier, more intense, and that stuff really kicks off with Season 3.”

Invincible Creator Reveals His Dream Superhero Crossover, Says ‘It Would Be a Gore Fest’
Mark Grayson would go toes-to-toe with an incredibly powerful superhero if co-creator Ryan Ottley got his way.
