InThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll explore hostile regions where the extreme temperatures inflict damage. If you want to venture far to the southwest or too close to a volcano, for example, you’ll get too hot for your own good. Armor can protect you, but there is also equipment that goes a step further and turns a liability such as heat into an asset. Here is our guide on how to get the Ember Headdress inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Tears of the Kingdom– how to get Ember Headdress

If you’re about to enter an area with damaging heat, the game will let you know about it. Then you can either avoid it, or you can use an item such as theFireproof Elixir. Once you tend to that necessary protection, you can also equip theEmber Headdressand use heat as a basis for improved attacks.

To get the Ember Headdress, explore the YunoboCo HQ South Cave.It is located in theEldinregion, not farwest of Death Mountain. If you’re having difficulty finding your destination, see the map below for the cave’s location. You may find it easiest to travel there from a nearby Skyview Tower you may have activated.

The cave is close enough to volcanic activity that you should bring along someFireproof ElixirorChilly Mushroom Skeweritems, and healing dishes. Either that, or you can buy theFlamebreaker Armorfrom the merchant at the nearbyYunoboCO HQcamp for 700 rupees.Make sure to also bring metal weapons and shields, since wooden ones catch on fire.Once you find the cave, you need to negotiate some enemies and hazards to reach your prize.

The first order of business is to take care oftwo Horriblin foes on the cavern ceiling. There is a standard red one that will spot you first, and a more dangerous blue one waiting nearby. Shoot them in the face with arrows and then finish the job with melee weapons as needed. You should be able to take on one at a time if you don’t advance too quickly.

After the enemies are defeated, look to the far side of the chamber they were guarding to find a rock wall.Break it down with a fused weapon.I had aSoldier’s Broadswordand went outside to fuse it with a nearbyBoulder. You might also try to grab something the Horriblins dropped to see if you can fuse something useful.

When you gain access to the tiny cave the rock wall blocked, you’ll find components you can use to make a cart. There is aFanyou can attach, and anotherWheel. Even with only three wheels, the resulting vehicle travels fine.

Take your vehicle back out into the main chamber and point it toward the lava lake. Then set the Fan to work and it propels the vehicle across the lava. You can even steer using the providedSteering Wheel, if you like.

On the far side of the lava, open the waiting treasure chest to claim theEmber Headdress. While you’re there, break apart any extra rocks for minerals. Then you’re good to exit.
