The First Descendantis one of the biggest games on Steam right now, and it has managed to retain a fairly high player count despite some technical hiccups. The PC version can run into a host of issues when it comes to stability, performance, and general bugs. Nexon has been keeping track of things, though, and if you’re running into the “NGS Reset Failed” error while playing The First Descendant, here is how you’re able to fix that.
Fixing The First Descendant NGS Reset Failed Error
According to Nexon, this error occurs in The First Descendant if an antivirus service is blocking the title from launching, and you need to add the game to its list of exclusions or exceptions.
This is a pretty common issue with plenty of multiplayer titles, and we recommend adding the entire game folder to its exceptions list. To make sure the antivirus is indeed causing the issue, temporarily disable the antivirus service to check whether the game runs without it. If that’s the case, add the game folder to the list.

To access the main folder, follow the steps below.
Now, you can either add the entire “The First Descendant” folder, or theBlackCipherfolder in the following location.
This folder in particular contains the NGService, which is being mentioned in the error message. After you’ve added the game to the exclusions list, the error should go away.

When he isn’t spending an unhealthy amount of time in Slay the Spire, he’s probably trying out yet another retro-shooter or playing Dark Souls for the 50th time.
