HoYoversehas just revealed when version 3.4 ofHonkai: Star Railwill be available, featuring three new characters, quality-of-life improvements, events, and more.
Major Story Developments and New Characters
Version 3.4 of Honkai: Star Rail, titled“For the Sun is Set to Die”, will launch on July 2 for PS5, Android, iOS, and PC.
This update will bring major story developments, including the expansion ofthe Era Nova arcand the addition of three new playable characters: Phainon, Saber, and Archer. Throughout this version, players will take part in time-limited events, enjoy gameplay improvements, and face new challenges.
This stage marks a key turning point in the story, with the Trailblazer and Phainon facing pivotal decisions that will impact the fate of the universe.
One of the main narrative highlights of version 3.4 is the introduction of Phainon as a central character. Born in Elisios, Phainonholds a deep backstory that players will explore alongside the Trailblazer.
Beyond his role in the story, Phainon also introduces new combat mechanics, such as accumulating “Kindling” to transform and power up, and the ability to eliminate enemies without initiating battle.
Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.4 Trailer
Version 3.4 will also feature a special collaboration withFate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works]starting on July 11. This event will introduce aHoly Grail Warin Colonipenal, where characters likeSaber, Archer, and Lancerwill join players as Heroic Spirits. Saber and Archer will become playable characters with unique abilities.
Saber will shine with powerful area attacks and Core Resonance buildup, while Archer will focus on sustained single-target damage using hisUnlimited Blade Worksskill.
Finally, this version will include balance updates and additional content. Several older characters—Silver Wolf, Blade, Kafka, and Jingliu—will receive upgrades, including the ability to switch between old and new combat styles. A new outfit for Firefly will be introduced, and popular characters likeTribbie and Sparklewill make a return.
In terms of quality-of-life features, players will be able to skip dialogue, and the paper bird minigame will return, adding a lighthearted touch to the overall experience.
