If there’s one thing that Ubisoft does well with their multitude of franchises, it’s creating dense environments filled with exploration. Assassin’s Creed Shadows is no different, as the vast world the studio has created is ripe for adventure. Whether it’s the various unique enemies you’ll come across on your adventures or investigating reported Yokai in the area, there feels like an overwhelming amount of content to dig your teeth into.
One such activity is participating in the numerous temples and shrines. Japan is a country of tradition and religion, at least back in the 1500s when Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes place. If you’ve ever been to the country, you’ll know that the number of temples and shrines feels infinite, and in Shadows, it’s well represented with some of the most iconic structures in the Kansai region.

Purpose of Temples & Shrines
With each of the temples and shrines, there will either be lost pages that need collecting or shrines that need to be prayed to. Doing so will unlock a good amount of EXP along with a Knowledge point that can be used to upgrade Nao and Yasuke. Some of these locations have surprisingly well-hidden collectibles, but with this guide you’ll have no problem finding them.
The Hogonji Temple is found in the Omi region of Japan. It is located immediately west of Nagahama city in the middle of the lake.

Despite this being an entire small island to explore, there are only two Lost Pages within Hogonji Temple, and both of them are very close to one another, although still surprisingly well hidden to the naked eye. The first is found all the way at the top of Hogonji Temple. Climb the stairs until you reach the main temple. There will be a viewpoint on the eastern pagoda, but where you want to go is directly west. For whatever reason, someone has left one of the pages on top of a temizuya/chozuya (the small water station to purify and cleanse your hands). Hop on up and collect the first Lost Page in Hogonji Temple.

As confusing as the first Lost Page’s location may be, the second is just as baffling. While you might expect it to be on top of the large pagoda, instead, from where you collected the first Lost Page on the temizuya, head west to find the main temple. This large structure houses many prayers, but on the roof resides a Lost Page. Hop on up and go all the way to the southwest. You will find a small platform with some paint on it, and, of course, the Lost Page sitting there.
