A fresh look atHell is Ushas just been released, highlighting its intense dungeon mechanics, brutal close-quarters combat, and clever puzzle design. The upcoming third-person action adventure (strongly inspired by titles likeDeath Stranding and Dark Souls) is set to launch on September 4 forPS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Hell is Us Unveils Dungeons, Combat & More

The latest gameplay trailer dives into the heart of the game’s mysterious dungeon system. Set in a war-ravaged country plagued by supernatural anomalies, the footage offers a seven-minute preview that focuses entirely on how dungeons play a key role in the broader experience. Forget about hand-holding or map markers,Hell is Usgoes all-in on raw, unguided exploration.

As explained by Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, the game’s creative director, the dungeons follow a design philosophy they callplayer-platting. “We want players to rediscover the joy of exploring on their own,” he says.

“Inside each dungeon, you’ll need to read your surroundings, solve environmental puzzles, and face off against relentless enemies. Each one has its own personality and offers truly memorable moments. Completing them feels like a real achievement.”

These aren’t optional side quests either. Dungeons are essential to the main storyline and gradually reveal key pieces of Hadea’s hidden past (the fictional country where the game takes place). The gameplay loop inside each dungeon mixes logical puzzles with fierce melee combat against supernatural foes that can’t be taken down with regular weapons.

Hell Is Us

A World with No Handholding, No HUD, Only Instinct

You’ll step into the shoes of Rémi, a former UN soldier turned lone wanderer. On a personal quest to uncover the truth about his origins, Rémi navigates a hostile and broken world with no HUD, no quest markers, and zero visual guidance.

His survival depends entirely on old-school steel (swords, axes, spears) and the tactical support of a drone.

From what we’ve seen so far,Hell is Usis shaping up to deliver a bold, atmospheric journey that prioritizes discovery and immersion above all. If you’re tired of overly guided adventures and crave something that trusts your instincts, this one’s worth keeping on your radar.
