Star Wars: The Force Awakensis just under two months away. And one thing fans are certainly excited to see is the return ofHarrison Fordas Han Solo. But the actor may be more enthusiastic about the return of a very different, albeit somewhat similar iconic character. Over the years,Fordhas made no qualms about callingIndiana Joneshis favorite. And while he liked stepping back into the big black space boots of pirate Han Solo, he’d love to return as the famed archeologist Dr. Henry Jones Jr. Here’s what he had to say aboutIndiana Jones 5toEWin terms of reprising the role.
“Oh, yeah. Yeah, I’d love to do another Indiana Jones. A character that has a history and a potential, kind of a rollicking good movie ride for the audience, Steven Spielberg as a director - what’s not to like?”

Over the course of this past year, we’ve heard thatIndiana Jones 5might be a true reboot withChris Pratttargeted as a younger version of the archeologist. But back in October, producerFrank Marshallclarified thatHarrison Fordwas not being replaced. Speaking withDen of Geek, he had this to say about the idea of a reboot.
“(We’re) not doing theBondthing where we’re going to call somebody elseIndiana Jones. We have to figure this out. There are a lot of rumors. We haven’t even sat down to talk about Indy yet… at some point we’ll sit down. But there’s a bunch of people who could probably take the baton.”

Earlier that month, directorSteven Spielbergsaid he wants to makeIndiana Jones 5withHarrison Ford. But it’s still unclear when that might actually happen. There was a rumor that Disney is planning a 2018release dateforIndiana Jones 5, but that rumor was also shot down byFrank Marshall. As of now, LucasFilm is intent on getting it’s Star Wars franchise back up and running before embarking on another Indy adventure.
Ironically, James Bond was a heavy influence on the creation of Indiana Jones, which lead to former 007Sean Connerybeing cast as Indy’s father in 1989’sIndiana Jones & the Last Crusade. Fans last saw Indy in 2008’sIndiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which earned $786 million worldwide at the box office.Cate Blanchett,Karen Allen,Shia LaBeouf,Ray Winstone,John HurtandJim Broadbentalso starred in the action-adventure. Disney acquired the rights to theIndiana Jonesfranchise back in December 2013, leading to much speculation about the future of this series. Are you glad thatHarrison Fordis excited to return asIndiana Jones? Or is he just too damn old?
