Ragnarok is coming! After long last, after almosttwo excruciating yearsof waiting, we finally have a release date for God of War Ragnarok! The highly anticipated sequel to the reboot will be released worldwide onNovember 9, 2022. Fans were graced with the firstgameplay trailer back in September 2021.

The weeks leading up to the Christmas 2022 season will definitely be jam-packed with some fantastic games. We will be gettingPlague Tale: Requiemand thePersona series portsjust a few weeks before God of War Ragnarok.Harvestella,Valkyrie Elysium, andPokemon Scarlet and Violetare all slated to release around Ragnarok’s debut.

Kratos is as Angry as Ever

A November 2022 release also potentially pits God of War Ragnarok as a game of the year contender, withElden Ringbeing its main adversary.

The Father and Son

A new CGI trailer on the official PlayStation Youtube channel announced the release date titled, “Father and Son”. While this trailer was fully CGI and did not contain an ounce of gameplay, it still started the hype train.

Kratos and Atreus do battle against a legion of wights, this time highly coordinated like a well-oiled duo of killing machines. Atreus specifically seems to have aged quite a bit, being a bit taller in height and having a deeper voice this time around.

A Family that Slays Together Stays Together

As the pair defends against the draugr, they remind each other that they are not alone. A gigantic wolf looms over the horizon, towering over the pair. But they’ve faced worse in the past, and this should be of little challenge to the parent and son.

Various God of War Ragnarok Editions

God of War Ragnarok will be available for preorder starting on June 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM local time (depending on the PlayStation Store region, most likely). As of writing, no price has been announced but the basic PlayStation 4 version will likely be $59.99. PlayStation 5 users will shell over $69.99. In total, there will be 4 other editions aside from the basic, Standard game.

God of War Ragnarok - Launch Edition will only be available to players who preorder the Standard Edition and will contain some snow-themed armor for Kratos and Atreus.

A More Mature Atreus

The Digital Deluxe Edition will have the Darkdale Armor sets for the father and son but also have Darkdale-themed weapons. Other goodies include avatars, PlayStation themes, a digital artbook, and a digital soundtrack.

Collector’s Bounty

Collectors will have two editions to choose from, the Collector’s Edition and the more expensive (presumably) Jotnar Edition.

Both of these editions will come packed in a beautiful “Knowledge Keeper’s Shrine” box that looks like a knowledge wall ripped right of the game. They will also have Vanir Twins Carvings which are Atreus’ wooden carvings from the game. Players will also receive a special steelbook to keep their game disk in. However, a game disk isn’t included as this will contain a code for digital download.

God of War Collectors Editions

The highlight of these editions, however, is the 16-inch Mjolnir Replica, the very weapon that Thor was teased to use at the end of God of War (2018).

The Jotnar Edition is even meatier. Aside from all the goodies above, this set will have a cloth map depicting the world tree Yggdrasil and its connection to all 9 realms of Norse Mythology. It will also have a vinyl record that contains the game’s soundtrack and a Falcon, Wolf, and Bear pin set.
