Fortnite update 21.40 patch notes: Dragon Ball, Lazy Lagoon & Mythic weapons
Fortnite update 21.40 is here, with loads of new features and cosmetics added to the game including the long-awaited Dragon Ball skins like Goku and Vegeta.
After a month-long summer break, theFortniteteam has finally dropped another mid-season update for players to enjoy – and it’s one of the biggest yet as it will finally launch the Dragon Ball collaboration.
For details of all the new features, anime skins, and challenges that are expected to be introduced with Fortnite update 21.40, we’ve got the patch notes below.
Fortnite update 21.40 downtime details
Downtime for the Fortnite 21.40 update is expected to begin at1AM PT / 4PM PT / 9AM BST on Tuesday, August 01, 2025. Matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes before this time.
We don’t know how long downtime will last, but considering how much content is being added with this update, we predict that it could be anywhere between one hour and two hours.

Fortnite x Dragon Ball skins
After months ofrumorsand teasers, the long-awaited Dragon Ball crossover will finally kick off in Fortnite with skins of four iconic characters from the anime series available in the Item Shop.
These four characters are Son Goku, Vegeta, Beerus, and Bulma. You’ll be able to purchase them as bundles or individually. There are also loads of matching cosmetics available alongside the skins.
Dragon Ball challenges with free rewards
As well as the four Dragon Ball skins, there will be themed challenges for players to complete across multiple days in Fortnite. Even better, there’s a free Shenron Glider to unlock for finishing them all.
There’s a special tab on the lobby screen that you’re able to scroll across in order to see all of these quests.

Dragon Ball map changes: Kame House!
The iconic Kame House from the Dragon Ball series has arrived on the Fortnite map! It can be found on a very small island off the coast, where Bulma is willing to sell you some powerful items for Gold Bars.
Kamehameha & Nimbus Cloud Mythic weapons
There are two new Mythic weapons to enjoy following Fortnite update 21.40 – the iconic Kamehameha energy beam and the floating Nimbus Cloud, which allows you to glide around the Island.
you may find both of these Mythics in Capsule Corp Capsules that will drop from the sky as deliveries.
The Daily Bugle becomes Lazy Lagoon
After months of web-swinging action on the Fortnite map, The Daily Bugle has been renamed Lazy Lagoon, merging the classic Season 8 location with the remains of the popular Spider-Man POI.
A new Battle Bus will be in service
There’s also a completely new Battle Bus design in Fortnite to celebrate the Dragon Ball collaboration.
This one will replace the giant balloon with what looks like an inflatable ‘Dragon Ball’ – the seven orange balls from the manga and anime series that grant a wish when collected.
