Dead by Daylightfans rejoice: The game’s 2v8 mode - that’s two killers versus eight survivors - is making its long-awaited return. This game mode was so popular when it first debuted over the summer that the game reached its third-highest concurrent player count onSteam chartswhile it was active.
The original 2v8 mode was such a success, in fact, that it returns to the game this month with new killers to play, new maps, new survivor abilities and more. Read on to learn more about what to expect when you dive into a 2v8 match. The limited-time event will run from November 12 to 26.

New playable killers
And new killer classes
When the game’s 2v8 mode first launched, only five original killers were playable: The Trapper, The Wraith, The Hillbilly, The Nurse and The Huntress. All five of those killers again make a return for this month’s return to the 2v8 mode, but now, players can also choose from three additional killers: The Blight, The Spirit and The Deathslinger.
In addition, there are four killer classes to choose from. Classes take the place of traditional perk builds in the game’s normal 1v4 matches. Players can choose from the following classes, depending on their preferred playstyle (and the playstyle of your partner killer, there’s two of you after all):

Class ability: While within 32 meters of a teammate, you gain Undetectable status. Injuring a survivor will then transfer the Undetectable status to your teammate.
Info ability: When your teammate initiates a chase with a survivor, the survivor’s aura will be revealed for an additional 4 seconds.

Class ability: Perform break actions 25% faster. Doing so will grant a teammate within 32 meters 10% haste for 8 seconds.
Info ability: When damaging a generator, reveal survivors within an additional 8 meters.

Class ability: Move 3% faster when chasing an injured survivor. When a teammate within 32 meters hits a survivor, that survivor is marked and has their aura revealed to you for 12 seconds. Putting that survivor into the dying state will grant your teammate a 60% lunge increase for 15 seconds.
Info ability: When damaging a generator, reveal nearby survivors for an additional 4 seconds.

Fearmonger
Class ability: While unseen, gain 5% haste. When injuring a survivor more than 16 meters away from your teammate, they gain 10% haste for 10 seconds.
Info ability: When a generator is completed, reveal the aura of survivors with no cage states for an additional 4 seconds.
In the game’s first version of the 2v8 mode, the class you played was predetermined by the killer you selected. Classes have now been redesigned, and they are no longer tied to specific killers.you may now select any class with any playable killer.
New survivor abilities
To even the playing field, survivor classes have been revamped to include a number of activatable abilities. Survivors now have aclass ability, which provides passive effects to nearby teammates, as well as a stronger activatable power;an info ability, which grants various aura reading abilities; and anunlock ability, a secondary effect that unlocks after being sent to a cage by a killer. Additionally, survivors can use their class ability charge to pick themselves up from the dying state.
Survivors can use their class ability charge to pick themselves up from the dying state.
Much like with the killer classes, survivor classes are not locked to any specific survivors. Instead, survivors can pick the class that they want, depending on their playstyle and preferred abilities. Many of the unlockable survivor abilities don’t come into play until later in the matches, after the player or their teammates have already been sent to cages. A complete look at each overhauled class with their new abilities is below.

Changes to Generators and Cages
While the core gameplay remains the same in the 2v8 mode, the developer team has madeseveral adjustmentsto the way generators and cages work.
Generator changes
From the developers:2v8 matches tend to be chaotic and swing heavily in favour of one role or the other. To help keep things from spiraling out of control early in a match, we have introduced a catch-up mechanic. The better the survivors are doing, the slower repairs will be and vice versa. In a close match, these effects will cancel each other out.
These changes include:
Cage changes
From the developers:Flashlights didn’t serve much purpose in the original version of this mode as there weren’t many opportunities to make a save. Killers now need to pick up a survivor before sending them to a cage, giving survivors a chance to use their flashlight.
