“Dulled steel, cold forge” is a side quest inDragon’s Dogma 2that is available while you are doing quests inVernworth. A guard will approach you in the castle and speak with you about theRegalia Sword. The sword has fallen victim to disrepair, and he’s entrusted you with the sword in hopes of assisting you in reclaiming the throne.

Repair the Dulled Blade
you may go back into town and speak with the armorer in the merchant’s square. He’s going to suggest that you go and speak with another blacksmith located inBattahl. Once inBakbattahl,you can head to thesouthernpart of town to “Brokkr’s Smithy”.Brokkrwill be in the back room of his house, speak with him, and he will look at the sword briefly before stating that he’s retired and can no longer work on it.
The next step is to make your way out of the house, you’re going to be stopped bySara. She had overheard your conversation and apologizes for Brokkr’s behavior. Brokkr will leave the house in a moment to stay with Sara and speak with her some more once he leaves for the tavern. Meet her by the forge in the back room and find out that monsters have cut the two off from the fuel source for their forge.
Finding and Delivering Glimmercoal
The next step is to go to the mine whereglimmercoalis located and bring some back to Sara and Brokkr. Make your way to “Digger’s Ruins” for the glimmercoal and get ready to haul some back to Bakbattahl. The location isn’t too far from town and just south-west of Bakbattahl. When you enter the cave without your lantern on, you’ll see some crystals throughout it emitting a low green light. You only need to harvest15 glimmercoal, but you’re able to find even more in the cave, and you could end up giving Sara25 glimmercoalif you wish.
When you return to Bakbattahl, Brokkr still refuses to repair our blade, but luckily Sara is still there for us. Give Sara the Regalia Blade and the quest is now complete.
