Players have been waiting since the holidays for some word from Bungie on how exactly they will fulfill their promises to players, instead of simply replying with the severely trite “We are listening”. There is a lot of subjects that this development update touches upon so, instead of listening to me rant your ear off, why don’t we instead get right into it.
A bad way to start a development update is:
Please keep in mind that the further out we make promises, the more they are subject to change. - Bungie
DestinyContentTiers
Expansions:Like the Curse of Osiris are purchasable updates that typically add new Story, Destinations, and Gear, as well as new Crucible, Strike, and Raid Lair content.
Seasons:Typically spanning 3 months, seasons introduce content that is made available to all players of Destiny 2.

Iron Banner, Faction Rallies, and their rewards fall underseasons. In the future, new Seasonal rewards from Crucible, Strikes, and Trials of the Nine will be available to all players. At this moment they are underexpansionstier.
It took Bungie over 4 months to recognize that the scales are unevenly tipped towards Tess. They claimed Eververse was never intended to be a substitute for end game content and rewards. Their new changes includes:

Crimson Days V-day Event
The upcoming new event will begin to use the proposed changes above. The event will start on February 13
We are still investigating changes to XP earn rates. Our goal with any updates to XP are transparency and consistent XP gain regardless of your preferred activity. Right now, it’s too slow in general and lopsided towards grinding specific activities and we want to fix that without making those activities low value to players who aren’t grinding them. Our first attempt turned out to be unworkably buggy so we’re having to investigate other angles. We will continue to update you as we move forward.

*Too bad they can’t just reduce the XP needed for a level up to 130,000 plus or minus 10,000. At the moment the best way to level up is Heroic Public Events although that is the worse way to obtain gear.
FeatureRoadmap
Below are the next 3 updates coming for all players:
January 30 Update
Raid Reward Rework
FebruaryUpdate
Spring2018
Bungie want to give players new reasons to play, more variety, and balance improvements. Spring will bring a number of exciting and long awaited features to the Crucible.
AdditionalHighlights
We are working on a lot more that we’re not quite ready to discuss. Expect more on this small sample of items in the future:
Things that wereoverlookedor forgotten
In conclusion, though Bungie has made some attempts to rectify issues and to promote a more lively community this update, they could have done better. January update, February event and PVP are all moving in a good direction. All the others are lukewarm at best, should have been in the game already, or it is too far in the future to say anything. Bungie stated “it is the time for doing” and all they can do is properly nail the upcoming events to better show their commitment. Lest they forget that because on the internet, mistakes are forever.
