Director Joe Begos is turning the Christmas spirit into something a little more gnarly in the first official trailer forChristmas Bloody Christmas. Fans should be worried whether they were naughty or nice, as Santa Claus is taking no prisoners in the first look from RLJE Films. Riley Dandy, who plays Tori Tooms in the film, receives an unexpected visitor when an animatronic Kris Kringle, who was recently recalled, goes off the rails with an axe in hand.

The holiday horror slasher looks to be a ton of fun for viewers, with plenty of blood and gore to accompany the deviant Santa. Begos has already found success in his limited Hollywood career, directing films such asThe Mind’s Eye,Bliss, andVFW. He’s hopingChristmas Bloody Christmasis his best yet, with a release set for December. The brand-new trailer can be found below.

Joe Begos Says He’s Wanted to Make a Holiday Horror His Whole Career

Though Joe Begos’s career is relatively short so far, the filmmaker says he’s always wanted to make a holiday horror movie. The director spoke withDeadlinefollowing the announcement ofChristmas Bloody Christmas, where he said the project is a dream come true.

“Since I was a young kid I’ve dreamed of making both a crazy holiday horror movie unlike any other and a no-holds-barred killer robot flick, but never imagined I could make them the same movie,” Begos explains. “The maniacs at RLJE Films and Shudder have allowed this fantasy to play out and greenlit this neon-soaked robot fever dream, championing the choice to shoot on film and build a real-deal robot in 2022. This truly is the place to be making cool and original filmmaker-driven genre films that, frankly, nobody else has the balls to finance.”

As Begos said, the upcoming picture from RLJE Films should be the perfect combination of robot and Santa Claus terror. Fans can see how theChristmas holidayunfolds whenChristmas Bloody Christmasarrives on Dec. 9.
