Infinite, released in 2021, is an American science fiction action film helmed by director Antoine Fuqua. The movie is based on D. Eric Maikranz’s 2009 novel,The Reincarnationist Papers. The story primarily takes place in present-day New York City and revolves around Evan McCauley (played by Mark Wahlberg), a diagnosed schizophrenic who has grappled with what he believes are mental health challenges since his teenage years. The film explores Evan’s journey as he discovers his true identity and unravels a world of reincarnated warriors and the battle for humanity’s salvation.
Infinite, with its promise of reincarnated warriors saving humanity, surely seemed like an exciting addition to the science fiction genre. However, the film failed to live up to expectations, receiving a dismal 17% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The film’s lead role was initially offered toChris Evansbut the packed schedule of theCaptain America: Civil Warstar prevented him from working in the film and the role subsequently went toMark Wahlberg.
