Just a few weeks ago, thefirst trailerarrived for the highly-anticipatedCaptain America: Civil War, which gave us our first official look atBlack Panther(Chadwick Boseman) in action. This iconic character will make his debut inCaptain America: Civil War, before his ownBlack Panthermovie arrives in February 2018.Entertainment Weeklycaught up withChadwick Boseman, who revealed new details aboutBlack Panther’s costume.
“I see the same thing. You don’t have as much vision in the peripheral. Your peripheral vision is definitely skewed, and it’s gritty, so you have this gritty, tinted view. You can see enough. I think, as far as the mythology is concerned, vibranium is dynamic, it can change how it’s used. It’s not a liquid, but it has the ability to change shape and change form and still retain its strength. As far as the actual suit is concerned, there’s a lot of comfort in the shoes and the boots, and that’s about the only part I did enjoy. That being said, the boots are the hardest part to get on, but after you get them on, you’re like, ‘OK, that feels good.’ I remember being extremely hot, claustrophobic, but the shoes are still good. Everything else you get used to. It has the ability to absorb the attack of another person that is part of the suit’s power. He does have other weapons that come out, and he definitely has claws you can see, but other than that, I’m not going to reveal anything.”
Since Black Panther’s suit is made out of vibranium, just likeCaptain America’s shield, it brings up an interesting question: who would win in a fight? Black Panther orCaptain America? We know thatBlack Pantheris on Iron Man’s side, along with War Machine (Don Cheadle),Black Widow(Scarlett Johansson) and Vision (Paul Bettany). Team Cap includes Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), The Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Sharon Carter/Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp) andAnt-Man(Paul Rudd). When asked if T’challa and Captain America fight in the movie, the actor revealed that he doesn’t think so, but he did share his thoughts about who would win if such a fight took place.
“I don’t know, man. That’s a great question right there. If you’re talking to(Floyd) Mayweather Jr.or(Manny) Pacquiao, before Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, then Mayweather is going to say he’ll win. And if you’re talking to Canelo [Alvarez], before the [Miguel] Cotto fight, Canelo’s gonna say he’s gonna win.”
Last week, ascene descriptionfrom the movie reveals that a silent T’challa is walking with Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and The Falcon, along with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) andMartin Freeman’s unidentified character. While T’challa remains quiet throughout this scene, he is present while Cap and Iron Man are about to be disciplined for the latest disaster involving the Avengers. When asked how T’challa fits into the story,Chadwick Bosemanhad this to say.
“He’s comes into it because, as a world leader, there’s a need that there is some sort of control over these super powers. It’s the same thing if there were nuclear weapons, the world leaders would come together and decide who should have nuclear weapons and what they should do with them. It’s the same thing with superheroes. He comes in as a person who has an interest that this power doesn’t go without some restraints and control and limitations.”
