Japanese publisher A Plus has announced that the closed beta test forBlue Protocol: Star Resonancestarts today, on August 22, and revealed the planned release window for the game. The free-to-play MMORPG is currently in development for PC and mobile devices (Android and iOS), and it’s expected to hit those platforms in October, though a more specific date was not mentioned.

A New Dive Into the Blue Protocol World

Originally, Blue Protocol was an online action RPG project byBandai Namcothat came out in Japan in 2023 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and its western release throughAmazon Game Studioswas ultimately canceled along with the closure of the Japanese server. The IP was licensed to Chinese developer Shanghai Bokura Network Technology Co. Ltd. for the development of a new game.

Blue Protocol: Star Resonance is a new MMORPG set in the same universe that was featured in the previous game. This time, however, the new game is optimized for mobile devices with a UI created with the touchscreen in mind, while keeping the graphics on par with the PC version of the game. Mobile and PC players will also share the same servers instead of being separated by platform.

In the game, it’s possible to create your own hero and explore the open world of Regnus, taking part in various activities. The first one is fighting monsters, which can be done with the help of other players. Monster stampedes and big bosses have specific attack patterns that players may learn with ease, according to the developers, but it may be even better to deal with them by counting on teamwork with friends, each taking different roles (like damage-dealer, tank or healer) in the party.

Battles are not the only aspect of the game, however, as it also includes gathering items like herbs and mushrooms, fishing and mining crystals. There are even other options that are all about relaxation, like dancing and setting off fireworks.
