The movie is coming off a minor controversy that caused quite the uproar halfway around the world.

Back in August, Paramount released a series of 12 new posters, which featured the alien pods hovering over a number of iconic locations in a dozen cities around the world. TheHong Kong posterwas controversial because the location shown in that image was actually the Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower in Shanghai, China, which lead to the hashtag #HongKongIsNotChina to start trending. The coordinates at the bottom of the poster were also erroneous as well, pointing towards Shanghai and not Hong Kong.
