It’s been a long road for Aion 2.
After first being announced in 2018, it looks like we finally have a firm release date. NCSoft’s upcoming MMORPG will be released in Korea and Taiwan this year, with a global release to follow in mid-2026.
Those dates are confirmed in areportby Forbes' David Jagneaux.
Despite the staggered release date, NCSoft wants to develop the game for a global market. It’s no doubt an attempt to capture an audience that may be turned off by Asian MMORPGs.
The teaser, shown above, hints that we’ll learn more about the game on May 29th, when a live stream revealing more information will take place.
One thing we already know is that the game is being built in Unreal Engine 5.

What To Expect in the Upcoming MMORPG Aion 2
According to the website Aion Strategies, Aion 2 will indeed launch in the second half of 2025. NCSoft has confirmed that the title will use the same business model asThrone & Liberty. This means the game will be free-to-play and utilize microtransactions to generate revenue.

As for gameplay, expect the combat system to feel similar if you’re familiar with Black Desert Online or Lost Ark. For those that don’t know, this means that combat will be fast-paced and include combos, real-time dodging, and dynamic battles in both PvE and PVP environments.
